Being the smallest member of the horse family, the African Wild Ass
averages only about 4 ft. high, 6 ft. long, and 500 - 600 lbs.
It spends most of it's day grazing and
rests during the peak of the day, when temperatures are hot and much
energy is required. Their diet consists of many types are grasses.
They live in desert areas where there is
little rain in the grasslands of Africa.
The asses live in groups of up to 50
animals, however, one animal may constantly move from group to group.
