The Cheetah is a member of the cat family.
Males generally live in groups with their
littermates, called coalitions, while females often live solitary.
Once the female is about 2 years old, she is capable of having babies.
Once the cubs are born, the female will take them to a hidden area because
they are easy prey for other large animals. The cubs are weaned within 3
months. The mother will help train them by bringing live food to them for
them to catch.
The cheetah is known for it's great speed.
It is known for a cheetah to fun up to 75 mph to kill prey. Cheetahs prey
on Zebras, Antelopes, and Gazelles. They sometimes catch smaller prey like
warthogs and birds. Their spotted coat helps them blend in with their
surroundings allowing them to wait for "just the right moment"
to leap and start their chase.
Because of habitat destruction, the
cheetahs' population is constantly decreasing.
