Aye - Aye

Daubentonia madagascariensis

The aye-aye is separated from all other lemurs because of it's unique characteristics.

It's teeth continually grow, like a rodent, throughout it's life. It has large ears, dome shaped to emphasize sounds. These ears help it hear larvae in dead wood and trees. It also has a very long, bony finger used to extract larvae from holes.

Scientists are unsure of how to classify the aye - aye because of so many different characteristics.
